About

Noire Gallery is pleased to announce a new exhibition project dedicated to Andy Warhol and the exploration of his iconic work Marilyn Monroe (Full Suite) n (FS II.22-31), 1967. The exhibition is on show at the Noire Foundation in San Sebastiano from January 29th to February 22nd 2019.
The project highlights the artistic research of Warhol through one of his most famous and significant works, investigating the process of iconization of the Hollywood diva. Marilyn’s face, portrayed foregrounded and two-dimensional, is de-personalized and decontextualized; series repetition makes it a commercial consumer product, always and immediately recognizable at first glance despite the color changes. Warhol’s work does not only transform the image of Marilyn Monroe into an icon but becomes itself a symbol and instrument of investigation for mass society.
